Kroger seeks buyers for Turkey Hill Dairy
The owner of Turkey Hill Dairy said Tuesday that the iconic Lancaster County business might be sold.
Kroger announced that it will explore its strategic alternatives for the dairy, including a potential sale, saying the dairy could grow faster under different ownership.
“We want to ensure Turkey Hill has every opportunity to meet its full potential,” said Erin Sharp, Kroger group vice president, in a prepared statement.
Based in Conestoga, Turkey Hill has nearly 800 employees. It’s nationally known for its ice cream, iced teas, fruit drinks, milk and frozen dairy treats. The dairy posts annual revenues of about $300 million, LNP has reported.
Kroger recently went through the same process with its convenience-store portfolio, which included the dairy’s sister business, Turkey Hill Minit Markets.
Last fall, Kroger said it would explore its strategic alternatives for the portfolio and, four months later, agreed to sell it for $2.15 billion to EG Group in February.
