Delivering mozzarella to Pizza Huts around the world, milk to Starbucks and reliable whipped cream to Asian bakeries, is helping to drive rapid growth in the Fonterra Global Foodservice business.

The business unit took the supreme award at this year’s ExportNZ awards.

Judges were impressed by the $1.6 billion business’ growth rate, of 20 per cent a year, strong margins and ability to add value to a core commodity product. Seventeen per cent of all Fonterra milk is directed to Foodservice, where it is turned into food products for export.

Fonterra’s mozzarella is sought-after for its texture and ‘New Zealand’ taste.

Fonterra Global Foodservice director Grant Watson said growth was driven by the business’ simple, focused strategy.
