A major winter storm churning in the Northeast threatened as much as two feet of snow in some spots while delaying Covid-19 vaccinations and testing from the mid-Atlantic into New England.

The heaviest snow is expected to hit an area stretching from roughly the Pocono Mountains in eastern Pennsylvania up into Connecticut and Massachusetts, said Rich Otto, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Maryland.

“Today certainly is not a day you want to venture out if you don’t have to,” Mr. Otto said. He said early Monday the storm was forecast to intensify and slowly track northward over the next 24 to 36 hours.
