Synlait Milk has bumped up its forecast milk price from $5.00 per kilogram of milksolids to $6.00 kgMS for the 2016-17 season, matching Fonterra. 

The Canterbury-based company said it had brought forward its announcement, having earlier planned for an update in February next year.

Supplier Michael Woodward welcomed the news, saying it would give the 200 farmers who supply Synlait a lot less to worry about as they approached Christmas.

“It’s good to see Synlait follow Fonterra’s lead, it’s a step in the right direction, especially such a big rise by a dollar,” he said.
