The enrollment period for the 2024 Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) program closes this Monday, April 29. DMC serves as a valuable safety net for dairy producers. While DMC imposes production limits, it can still offer returns to dairy producers.
For producers enrolling in the $9.50 coverage level, DMC payments thus far will be $1.02/cwt for January and $0.06/cwt for February, excluding the 5.7% sequestration rate. These payments are retroactive for producers who have not yet signed up but do so before the enrollment deadline.
