Kip’s journey in the commodities markets began in the mid-1980s at Packers Trading Group’s agriculture division, where he focused on cattle and hogs. Shortly after, he earned a seat at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and became a member, solidifying his presence as a key figure in the Chicago commodities markets. In 2000, Crook founded KPC Trading, an introducing brokerage firm deeply rooted in trading CME dairy markets.
Over the years, Crook has played an instrumental role in shaping the CME Group’s dairy spot and derivatives markets. As vice chair of committees that introduced dairy products to the exchange, he contributed to the development of the dairy futures and options contracts, starting with butter – then the only physical dairy product traded at the CME. His leadership extended to the cheese committee and beyond, ensuring the establishment of robust contracts that serve the dairy industry today.
